Brazilian Butt Lift
The secret of the stars' B-sides

Ten things to know about BBL liposuction

What is the Brazilian Butt Lift?

Naples - Tuesday 14 Apr 2020 - Dr. Francesco Somma

1. What is the Brazilian Butt Lift?

BBL is a procedure that helps reshape the B side into the desired shape.

During the Brazilian Butt Lift, liposuction removes your excess fat, mainly from your abdomen, thighs or back. The fat is then washed and purified to be reinjected into the buttocks.

2. How long does a Brazilian Butt Lift surgery last?

The duration of this procedure will vary depending on the amount of fat to be injected, which is necessary to achieve the appearance you desire (ranging from 400 to 1,200 ml per side).
The results are immediately visible, however for the final appearance you need to wait about 3 months, when all the swelling will be gone.

3. What to expect after the BBL procedure.

Recovery generally requires 10-14 days of rest and absence from work. Little more is generally injected than is needed as not all of the fat will take root where injected. This, combined with postoperative swelling and bruising, will cause the treated area to look larger than expected. This will subside over the course of weeks.

Generally, more than 80% of the injected fat cells survive. You need to wear a specific sheath for 3 weeks full-time all day and then another 3 weeks for 12 hours a day. For 2 weeks after the procedure, you will be asked to avoid sitting on your bottom (you can sit forward on your thighs) or applying pressure to the area for prolonged periods. Antibiotics and anti-inflammatories will be prescribed and postoperative massages will be effected.

4. Who are the best candidates for the Brazilian Butt Lift?

The best candidates for a Brasilian Butt Lift are those with excess fat on the hips and lower back, to offrire an extraordinary "V" shape from the back and thus enhance the "S" shape of the buttocks.

5. Why choose a Brazilian Butt Lift with Vaser Lipo?

Thoughts such as "my butt is too flat" or "I want a round, high butt" are good reasons to choose this procedure.

6. From which areas of the body can fat be extracted?

Fat can be extracted from any part of the body. The most utlized areas are the abdomen, thighs, and back. Other areas include the upper arms, hips, or breasts. Ideally, good candidates for a Brazilian Butt Lift will have fat removed from the love handles and lower back to offrire an extraordinary "V" shape from the back.

7. I don't have much fat elsewhere on my body, can I perform the procedure?

For patients who do not have a lot of excess fat (or for those who have undergone significant weight loss), it is necessary to gain weight (using a healthy and balanced approach thanks to our nutritionist) until there is enough fat to harvest. In fact, it is not possible to use someone else''s fat, because this would cause rejection.

8. How much fat will survive the transfer process?

With traditional liposuction techniques, less than 50% of the extracted fat will survive the transfer process in the buttocks. Dr. Francesco Somma uses Vaser liposuction, a more gentle approach to removing fat than traditional liposuction. Thus, the fat survival rate is more than 80%.

9. Is there a risk of complications?

There are inherent risks and complications as in any other surgery. You should be aware of the potential risks and discuss any concerns with your doctor before performing surgery.

10. Will I experience pain?

The surgical procedure is performed under deep sedation or spinal anesthesia, so you will not feel any pain during the procedure. Pain medication will be prescribed post-operatively to minimize pain.
